Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria: day trip

Fort Stevens: The fact that there weren’t any seals in Astoria didn’t matter… Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria is a GREAT place to take the dogs for a run. You can drive onto the beach which was a huge added bonus. You’re actually on the Columbia so it’s access to the pristine river. And the river is warm – bath water – so perfect for the doxies and Shermie.
Parking lot D is the one that allows you to go all the way to the end where there is a “almost” private beach. As the day went on it became crowded but for the first few hours of the morning we had the beach to ourselves.
