Murphy’s Law on Vacation: #sponsored

You’ve been waiting for this trip to the coast for months and vacationing with your dogs is on your top five list of 2016 resolutions.

Car is packed, dogs are in their crates and collars have identification tags – in case the worst thing happens – one of your dogs gets lost.

It’s Murphy’s Law, right? You’re days into your trip. You open the cabin door and you swear all the dogs had long leads on and were behind a baby gate while you were getting the car ready for their morning hike. Yet, someone gets out and before you know it, they’re out of sight.

Luckily, the community you’re in is small. But no one knows your dogs in this strange community so let’s talk about prep and the things that should be in play before you leave… just in case this happens.

Did you?

  • Microchip your dog and register him with the microchip company?
  • Make sure your dog has a collar securely fastened with a digital ID tag?
  • Research PetHub? No problem- I’ve done the legwork for you here. The basic package is free! (this is what I signed up for)

Honestly, one of the easiest ways to make sure your dog ends up back with you is PetHub digital ID tags. It’s low tech and has a simple QR code that aligns with your dog’s identification details. Do this while Lost Pet Prevention Month is top of mind – it literally takes five minutes to set up an account.

Here’s how it works  — step by step video tutorials below: Create an account, add your pet, and link up and activate your tag

Once your account has been added you have the options to add other important information:

  • Add or update your emergency contacts  – You can add multiple emergency contacts and emails to your profile. PetHub does not share this personal info with third-party sources.
  • Completely fill out your pet’s profile  – Add a photo, a physical description, and other critical pet data to allow for easy identification in the event your animal goes missing.

How PetHub works:

Disclaimer: We received a tag from PetHub in exchange for an honest review.  I only share information about products that I believe in and already fit into our doggie lifestyle and routine. PetHub did not compensate me for this post.

(this is now in a Blog Hop and the theme is horses so… you may get a tag for your horse!)

Great post! We are awaiting the arrival of our first PetHub digital tag now!

  2. That is a scary story! I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone I know!

  3. The dog(s) getting lost in a strange place would be the worst! I sometimes double tag Mr. N when we’re in a strange place.

  4. HAPPY HAZEL says:

That’s a cool tag! I love how it also has cute designs too! 🙂 I really love the heart one! <3

  5. What’s functional tag! It’s so practical and super stylish!

  6. Stylish and a great idea. Kilo the Pug is microchipped but they don’t always check apparently. I’d be so scared if he got lost anywhere.

  7. Such an important subject. We cannot talk about it enough. Very well written. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Ruby doesn’t tend to leave our side, but I’m still pretty paranoid about her getting lost. She is microchipped, but PetHub sounds like a great back up plan and extra assurance and security.

  9. This sounds like an excellent idea, especially for dogs who travel with humans.

Very cool company. One of my biggest fears is losing my dogs. I will look into this product!

    Great post! Pinning to share!

  12. Anything that mkes a pup safer when you travel is a great thing. One slip and they could escpe – this means they will be found.

We love the PetHub line and just got a lifetime membership today. This is a must have for any pet parent.

  14. I think losing a pet on vacation would be even more terrifying than losing one at home. So many unknowns. We are lucky to live in a time when technology can help reunite pets and people!

  15. Sadie says:

Great information and love that this is a fun, stylish way to track pets!

I really like these tags, I won a gift certificate on the blog Fidose of Reality about a year ago and I love the tags I chose. The one that scans with a smartphone is so cool. Good peace of mind. Excellent review Christy!

  17. This is really a cool product, we’ve never heard of it before and it is definitely worth trying. Love Dolly

  18. What a neat tag! Very useful and practical, and I love how cute they are too! I need to look into getting these for my two adventure cats. I love taking them out on adventures but am always worried about them slipping out of their harness. Having something like this would give me some peace of mind. Thanks for the great review!

  19. S'more Dogs says:

I love the tags with the skull and crossbones! I was thinking of getting one like that for Graham since he thinks he can take on any dog anywhere, at least until he’s actually face to face with them! I’ve been blogging about own experiences with escaping animals and what I’ve used to try and keep them safe.

  20. Great tutorial abput Pet Hub tags. We love ours

  21. Jean Dion says:

That’s a very cool idea. It’s much better than the duct tape I use to update my dog’s info when we’re on vacation!

This is so great! You hope you never have to rely on it, if you know what I mean, but what a relief if you have one.
